All About Vibralocity

Vibralocity is the DJ/Producer moniker for Joshua Jacobs (formerly known as the artist SinSay). To listen to a Vibralocity set is to be taken on a journey through genres, moods, body movements, and cultures. You will hear inspirations drawn from house and bass music, as well as funk, soul, disco, hip hop, and so much more. There is no such thing as a ‘typical’ set from Vibralocity, as he has a talent for freestyling his sets to match the vibe of the crowd.

Joshua has a rich history involved with music of all kinds. Growing up, his mother was an aerobics instructor, and together they would create mixtapes for her classes. They would even beatmatch using a clock and counting out loud! As a middle schooler, Joshua dove into band as a trumpet player and fell in love with classical music. Since then, Joshua has been an avid collector of music, creating mixtapes for friends, providing playlists for parties, and eventually being taught how to DJ in 2012.

Once Joshua found DJing, his entire life changed. His good friend, Matt ‘Fahnix’ showed him the ropes and together the two of them rocked multiple community gatherings, club shows, and house parties. The next year, Joshua started to find his own sound with the artist name ‘SinSay.’ For 8 years, Joshua played music under that moniker across the West Coast.

In late 2021, after soul-searching and a lot of learning about cultural competancy, Joshua decided to change his artist name. Out of respect for Japanese culture, he retired the name ‘SinSay’ in favor of a more neutral term. That is how ‘Vibralocity’ was born! Vibralocity is a combination of the words ‘Vibration’ and ‘Velocity,’ which were chosen to reflect the fact that all sounds are vibrations happening around and through us. The sounds we can perceive as humans have a certain frequency, which is measured in Hertz (Hz). Hz are a measurement of oscillations of sound waves, which is a representation of speed (velocity)!
